1.

What is Permanent Make-Up?

Permanent Make-Up is a non-surgical micro-procedure known as Micropigmentation. Tiny droplets of custom blended colors are skillfully deposited into the dermal layer of the skin to simulate natural looking or well-defined Make-Up. This process is a selective art form of traditional tattooing whereby the natural features of the face are enhanced and defined in the form of permanent eyebrows, eyeliner and/or lip liner and color. The results are beautiful, immediate and permanent! A refreshingly, radiant yet natural look is achieved that cannot be duplicated by traditional cosmetics. Each treatment is as unique as the individual receiving it.

2.

What is Medical Micropigmentation?

Medical Micropigmentation is the camouflaging of skin discolorations due to injury, medical surgery, aging or disease. The discoloration is camouflaged to a persons natural skin tone color resulting in a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

3.

Is Micropigmentation for you? Who benefits from Permanent Make-Up?

  • Men and women with scars from surgery or trauma.
  • Women with active lifestyles wanting the timesaving convenience from the daily routine of applying make-up.
  • Anyone wanting to save money from cosmetic purchases.
  • Women who have difficulty applying make-up because of poor vision or physical limitations.
  • Athletic women who want a radiant, carefree look while exercising.
  • Eliminates smearing and smudging of make-up on hot days.
  • Women wishing to change the shape and shade of their lips or the shape of their eyebrows.
  • Men and women who suffer from brow or hair loss or who have sparse or fair eyebrows and eyelashes.
  • Men desiring the look of irresistible eyes.
  • Women allergic to cosmetics, who have watery eyes, hay fever or whose skin tends to absorb or change the quality and color of their make-up .

4.

Is Permanent Make-Up safe?

All procedures are performed with one-time disposable supplies and follow strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines as required by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and OSHA regulations.  Superb instrumentation and topical anesthetics are now available making Permanent Make-Up a safe procedure. In July, 2004, the FDA reported adverse reactions associated with permanent makeup colors from a particular pigment brand. These colors were used primarily for lips and brows and in a few cases for eyes. The ingredient Benzadiozole Orange has been linked to these reactions. We only use permanent makeup colors that are FDA approved.

5.

Is infection possible?

Even with a minor scratch infection is possible. However, there should be no major complications. You must keep the area clean and follow your after care instructions.

6.

What color or shape should I chose?

You have choices! There is an array of beautiful colors to choose from. Colors are custom blended then the shape and shading are designed to enhance your unique features.

7.

How long will the procedure take?

Depending on the area of application, the procedure will take from one to two hours. Four to six weeks later a follow-up or touch-up session should last less than a half an hour. Most people require at least one follow-up session.

8.

Is the procedure uncomfortable?

In most cases discomfort is minimal. Procedures are performed with the most effective topical anesthetics providing near total numbing of the area to minimize any discomfort you may feel. Although, each client has different pain tolerances and may require a injection of lidocaine to assist with the discomfort. You will have the option to receive additional pain control such as dental block and localized numbing with the use of injections with lidocaine.

9.

What can I expect after the procedure?

Expect slight to moderate swelling and redness. Usually the swelling subsides within 48 hours. Initially, your permanent make-up will appear darker, brighter and thicker than what it will heal to.

10.

How long will my Permanent Make-Up last?

Your Permanent Make-Up can last for several years depending on your skin type and how well you care for it. Over time the color will lighten and you may desire to have the color refreshed.

11.

Is it true that it is not safe to have an MRI if someone has permanent makeup?

Much of the misleading information surrounding this issue stems from an infamous "Dear Abby" letter written in the 80's warning clients not to have permanent makeup if planning on having an MRI. There have indeed been a very small number of reported cases of discomfort around the eyes from those wearing permanent makeup while undergoing an MRI. Since many brands of permanent makeup pigment are iron oxide based, it has long been speculated that the iron particles in the pigment are to blame. However, test studies have confirmed that the iron particles in pigment are too microscopic to react as true metals. Moreover, the iron oxide found in pigments is more accurately compared to "metals" which already exist microscopically in the human body.
